⏳ Erebus Growing | 0016 - Visualization is powerful and can be used in different ways
Everything that's meant to happen has already happened
Welcome to Erebus Growing, a weekly email where I share little snippets of life to help you change and grow into your highest life.
I know that a major part of my life will involve plants.
I have at least a dozen and then some.
And I spent yesterday giving most of them a deep soaking in the kitchen sink.
I repotted another plant that needed a little TLC and I took some cuttings from my snake plant to propagate.
As we continue to move through spring here in the Catskills in New York, take time to shed those things in your life that no longer serve you just as we take care of our plants.
I’m going to be looking hard at my life over the next couple of weeks to really see what aligns and what doesn’t with my highest life.
And when I come to those things that don’t—I’m going to cut them out so that new growth can come forward.
👨🏻💻 Meditation
One of the most powerful techniques I’m starting to experiment more with is visualization.
This particular instance leans into the idea that everything that’s going to happen—that’s going to get us to our highest life—has already happened.
We just haven’t experienced it yet.
That’s the difference between our minds and bodies.
With our minds, we can see the future we have and exist in it to understand how it feels.
But with our bodies, we are limited to the present and can only take action to move toward that future.
It’s simultaneously one of the best and worst things, to be a mortal human trapped in time. (But I digress, we’ll dive into this in another meditation.)
It’s in knowing these things, in our highest life, have already happened that we can bring them to fruition.
Let’s say that your highest life consumes a plant-based diet because it makes you feel better.
You know that is in your future, so you intentionally start to shift towards more plant-based meals and snacks.
Given a few years, you consume an almost exclusively plant-based diet and have virtually made it a reality.
It’s similar for money. If you’re looking to earn $100,000 a year, you’ll naturally start to find ways to earn more money and within a few years have hit the goal.
The key here is taking action knowing that these things have already happened.
Without taking action every day, even in small steps, nothing will happen.
Your highest life, without action, will never exist.
But it pays to move in power, knowing that your highest life already exists and you are simply not there yet.
📚 Inspiration and Resources
Every week we all consume content and I share my favorites here.
Watch.
A series of videos that I came across on YouTube have been capturing me pretty consistently. Published by Epicurious, this series takes a professional chef and a home cook and challenges them to swap ingredients to create their take on a classic dish. What captures me every time is the way that a professional chef can take simple ingredients and, because of their knowledge and mastery of food, create a typically incredible new dish that I suspect most people would never have thought of. One of my favorites is about ramen. Give it a watch here.
Read.
A favorite post of mine about life resurfaced in my life recently. I wanted to share it with you. It talks—well, I’ll let you give it a read yourself. Give it a read here.
📓 Journaling Prompt
Journaling is one of the most important things to do when exploring our own lives. A new prompt for you to use this week is below.
What are three small actions that I can take every day to move toward my highest life?
