⏳ Erebus Growing | 0059 - Your life today is built on the dreams of yesterday

The life you have now is the life you wanted

Welcome to Erebus Growing, a weekly email where I share little snippets of life to help you change and grow into your highest life.

It’s been a long two weeks full of travel, sickness, interviews, and rest.

I’m looking forward to the next few weeks calming down and resetting.

I’m still packing and cleaning because moving is going to happen, it’s just a matter of when.

I’ve not been home a lot, so after I set this up to go out, I’m spending some time deep resetting things. I need to clean and resent my place.

Wishing you a great weekend and I’ll see you here again next week.

👨🏻‍💻 Meditation

Coming back from a recent trip where I interviewed for a new 9-5 position, I had a thought.

I’m a finalist for a position at an internationally known higher education institution.

And just a few years ago, I never would have even considered trying to apply for this position.

There has been so much over the past few years that has changed in my life just through my mindset.

The idea of “Don’t tell yourself no, let them tell you no.”

The idea that “You’re dying, live accordingly.”

“Move with a sense of urgency.”

“Honor your body.”

The one that came to me most clearly just a couple of days ago was something like this:

Your life today is built on the dreams of yesterday.

As I was driving back from my trip, I saw a billboard for hospice services. That billboard made me think of my grandmother.

She would have been so proud of who I’ve become so far.

She would have been so proud of the opportunity in front of me.

And that got me to thinking about my grandfather.

I spoke with him one last time the night he died. He told me that he just had to make it to May to see me graduate from college.

He was proud that I was in college and getting a degree so that I would not have to spend my life working in a physical labor position because it was my only option.

He would be so proud of the opportunity in front of me right now. It’s what he hoped and dreamed about for me.

And for me, a little over seven years ago, I walked out of the Grand Central Terminal in New York City thinking I could see myself living here.

I have no idea what’s going to happen with the position. I’m supposed to find out this week.

I may receive an offer or I may not. But there are paths forward into my future either way.

The life I am living today is the one I wished for years ago.

And the one I’ll live tomorrow will be the one I’m wishing for today.

📚 Inspiration and Resources
Every week we all consume content and I share my favorites here.

Creating.
I have over 45 plants between my apartment and office. This week I finally took the jump into a plant management app because I needed it. There are so many and I appreciate each of them, but they all have different needs that are not “just water once a week and get them some sun.” I used it intermittently a few months ago, but Planta was the most logical choice for me. With its ability to provide smart care steps and allow me to balance with my own care, it’s the app for me to use. Give it a go here.

📓 Journaling Prompt
Journaling is one of the most important things to do when exploring our own lives. A new prompt for you to use this week is below.

How has your life improved in the past year?

Until next time, I wish you enough and send you off with love and a sense of urgency in your life.
