Life gives you back what you put in it
Welcome to Erebus Growing, a weekly email where I share little snippets of life to help you change and grow into your highest life.
It’s been a long week of waiting for answers on a position that still hasn’t come.
I hopefully will hear something tomorrow but also have another visit for a second-round interview later this week.
The part-time is also going to be picking up again in the next few weeks.
It’s going to be a time of refocus and renewal alongside the spring as I share about a little below.
👨🏻💻 Meditation
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently about what kind of life I want to lead.
As I move into this next phase, it’s causing a lot of questions about what I genuinely want to focus on.
And I confess that I don’t necessarily know.
It’s just been so much go, go, go, that I haven’t been spending a lot of time on myself.
I’ve been eating out a lot.
I’ve been doing the absolute bare minimum I set for myself when journaling.
I’ve been meeting the minimum for my rowing and yoga practices.
I haven’t been listening to the podcasts that brought me life and growth.
I haven’t been doing the work in a lot of areas and it’s showing.
I’m putting in the minimum effort and expecting to see amazing results.
And that’s not how it works.
I’m not in the best position right now and instead of focusing on addressing the core issues, I realized today that I’m just hoping the next step will save me.
It will cause some changes, sure, but it will not resolve the core issues that have gotten me here.
Minimal effort leads to minimal results.
The amount of work I’m putting in is going to directly impact how much I get out.
It’s incredibly powerful to realize that just a year ago, I was in a much different spot in so many areas.
I let things slip but now that I realize it, I’m going to refocus.
I’m going to write some incredibly brief emails in the next few weeks while I hone back in on what I want to build into my life.
It was a striking moment in a podcast from today that mentioned that to have extraordinary results you have to put in extraordinary efforts.
That’s what we’re going to do.
📓 Journaling Prompt
Journaling is one of the most important things to do when exploring our own lives. A new prompt for you to use this week is below.
Where are you putting in less effort than you should?
